You can make a custom plastic mug insert in Creatacard in a "snap"!

Step 1 The Mug

First you need to buy the mug! Many CAC Friends have found these types of mugs in dollar stores. I have bought mine from 2 online vendors:

The Wacky Wagon
EDPS

A plastic snap in mug comes in 2 pieces

Step 2 The template

You can download a blank template for CAC Version 3.0 here

This is the sizing you will need for a basic size insert sheet. Print and cut this out and make sure the dimensions are correct before proceeding. Some slight adjustments may be needed depending on the manufacturer of the mug you buy.

Step 3 - The Design

Choose a horizontal graphic that you useto completely cover the insert sheet template. I chose the seashell scene from CAC Version 3.0

Place your guideline on top of the graphic. You can now add your wording and additional graphics.

Step 4 - The final touches

Once your design is complete you can print on either card stock or inkjet paper. I use a lower weight high resolution card stock. Cut along the template lines. Place inside your mug base to see if any additional trimming is needed.

Remember, these types of Mugs are novelty mugs, they are not dishwasher safe. You need to take them completely apart to wash them. You can safeguard the insert by laminating either by a hot laminater, clear contact paper or self laminating sheets -so if they get wet they will not be ruined.

Snap In plastic mugs also do not have a permanant seal - if you want a seal you can use a clear silicone around the inside edge before snapping together. Many Friends like to change the insert - so this might not be a option for you.
